Other then some minor glitches, this game is just full of amusement, whether it is skydiving off of the empire state building head first to the ground to "just in time" sling a web and come zooming away at over 100mph, or just a casual stroll around the city. I hadn't played the Spiderman 2 game, but i hear it is pretty simliar in its wide open city experience. Imagine Grand Theft Auto, with the ability to swing around and climb on walls, and you get spiderman 3. There are a lot of sub-plots, as well as a main mission, which i have yet to get past the "new goblin" on, but they take you literally all through this huge playground of a city. Just webbing around and stopping random acts of violence is fun in this game not to mention that it is narrated by the great Bruce Cambell!
So, if you get the chance, head out and pick it up, its a great time.
